Tower
Safety Tips
- Familiarize yourself and your crews with OSHA
safety requirements.
- Always check the tower's anchors and guy wires
before climbing it. An insecure tower can and will fall when you
climb it.
- Provide your crews with the proper safety equipment,
including harness and safety climb cables, and train them to use
that equipment properly.
- Implement a complete Fall Protection Program.
- Conduct an annual tower climbing inspection,
or have a tower company conduct one for you.
- Make sure your tower’s lighting system
is in compliance with FCC and FAA guidelines and rules. Do you
display your 7 digit FCC tower registration number on your tower
as required? Tower registration signs are available from Great
Plains Towers.
- Have your tower's anchor shafts inspected periodically,
and employ proper cathodic protection to retain their structural
integrity. (See Anchor Shaft Workover.)
