Tower Safety Tips
  1. Familiarize yourself and your crews with OSHA safety requirements.
  2. Always check the tower's anchors and guy wires before climbing it. An insecure tower can and will fall when you climb it.
  3. Provide your crews with the proper safety equipment, including harness and safety climb cables, and train them to use that equipment properly.
  4. Implement a complete Fall Protection Program.
  5. Conduct an annual tower climbing inspection, or have a tower company conduct one for you.
  6. Make sure your tower’s lighting system is in compliance with FCC and FAA guidelines and rules. Do you display your 7 digit FCC tower registration number on your tower as required? Tower registration signs are available from Great Plains Towers.
  7. Have your tower's anchor shafts inspected periodically, and employ proper cathodic protection to retain their structural integrity. (See Anchor Shaft Workover.)
